In May 2017, Queensland Caravan Club turned 68. The numbers of members are reasonably
stable - as new members have come on board, others have left the club; the future of the
club is looking quite secure, albeit with new faces. Some of the ‘old’ faces are still around

and we have one couple, Life Members Ron and Pam Robson-Petch, having their 50
anniversary of membership in 2018.

In recent years, the Queensland Caravan Club had become part of the 21 century, using
computer technology. Members at first used their own computers, but in 2005 we had
purchased the first of QCC’s own laptops with peripherals; one each for the Secretary,
Treasurer and Editor to help them carry-out their duties, and all had internet access.
Through the years 2014 to 2017, these laptops and peripherals have, of course, since been
replaced more than once. As time has travelled on, many of our members have become
quite used to using computer technology as it has become less of a novelty.
Lance Haslewood had been working on QCC’s website, with information such as how to
join, photos, ‘QCC Wanderer’, rallies and events, etc., and in 2014 the website finally
came alive. Then in 2017 he connected us to social media by joining Facebook, which has
proved very popular as many members regularly place their photos and notices on the
club’s Facebook site. I know a lot of work went into all of this – thanks Lance.
